Purchasing a TV in the earlier decades used to be an easier process than it is now. Nowadays, a lot of features have added to the television. A person must look for an excellent combination of HDR support, resolution, algorithm, processing speed, and other factors before making any purchase. So, choosing the right TV for your budget and preference can take a few thoughts, comparisons, and steps.

You can find an ideal TV for different jobs and purposes. There is no room for one size fits all kind of theory. So, we have brought some of the features and qualities that you should look for before purchasing a TV.

Screen Size

You can choose from a wide variety of screen sizes that are available from 14 inches to more than 80 inches. If you prefer a smaller size, 32 to 40 inches would be an ideal choice. Otherwise, you can also go for 55-inch, 65-inch, or 75-inch size models. Choose the size of your TV according to the size of your living room.

Display Resolution

You can choose from HD and Ultra HD, which includes 4K resolution. Ultra HD provides four times better pixels and resolutions than an HD TV. Nowadays, 4K videos have become quite common, and 4K videos available in almost all streaming sources. Also, look out for HDR, which stands for High Dynamic Range that produces pictures with better brightness, luminance, and contrast. HDR 10, Dolby Vision, and Hybrid Log Gamma are the three types of HDR available in the industry right now.

Flat or curved screen

Flat-screen TVs have been doing rounds in the industry for a long time now, while the curved screens are not that common. The curved screen makes the corner of the pictures look sharper, and the color and contrast look better when viewed from a curved angle. You must be aware that TV works mainly on either LCD or LED panel technology. There is a difference between all of these technologies.

LCD

The behind the screen LCD TVs deliver the best contrast, in comparison to both. But their models are as sleek as the edge-lit models, and they cost more and consume more power as well. LCD TV offers better illuminating pictures, brightness, affordability, and durability.

OLED

These systems use self-emitting pixels to generate their own light. Just give room for better contrast, light, and display. You can enjoy wide view angles. But these systems are more expensive and provide less brightness than normal LCD TVs. Neither do they last longer as per their price.

QLED

LCD TVs use quantum-dot technology to provide better color, and a wide view is known as QLED. QLED TVs don’t have color filters, and white LED black lights to limit its performance. Samsung, Sony, and LG make the best out of this technology.

Connection and Port

Look out for HDMI, USB, and multimedia support. Make sure that you get at least 3 HDMIs to get the widest compatibility with their source equipment and minimum of 2 USB ports for multimedia playback and recording TV’s tuners. Nowadays, TVs also have a built-in Wi-Fi and Ethernet port to let you access multimedia from any device connected to a similar network. You can also use the Bluetooth support to connect with the external devices.

Sound Quality

If you don’t plan to use the TV with an external sound system, you should look for harshness, bass, etc. of the TV speakers. Listen carefully to the voices by switching channels. See if there is any difference in the sound quality of men, women, animals, and various other sceneries. Check if the voice is coming from the right place and if it’s spreading throughout the room or not?
